You can change the WiFi Name (SSID) and password on your router to something that makes it more easily identified and remembers.

To do this, follow these steps:

Connect to the WiFi using the details printed on the sticker on the Router or connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet Network cable plugged into one of the four Ethernet Network sockets on the bottom of the Router.

  1. Open a web browser on your computer and type 'http://router' and hit Return. This will open the Genexis Login page on the Router.
  2. Log in using 'admin' as the Username and the Admin Password printed on the sticker on your Router.
  3. When logged in you will see the Router Control Panel. Click the Wireless block or click 'Wireless' in the menu at the top right of the Control Panel.
  4. In the resulting page you will see two sets of information: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. These are the two frequencies the Router WiFi broadcasts on. The 5GHz band gives a faster WiFi speed but only works well over short distances and when there are few walls between your device and the router whereas the 2.4GHz gives a slower WiFi speed but works better over longer distances and with walls. By default they are given the same Name (SSID) and Password and your devices will automatically choose the best one to use. You can change these settings.
  5. Go to the Configuration section of the page and enter a new SSID and Password into each of the two sections, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. If you use the same SSID and password for both then you will see the one SSID in the WiFI list on your devices and they will automatically choose the best one to use. Alternatively, if you use a different SSID for each one then you will see both in the WiFI list on your devices and you can manually choose which you would like to use. If you decide to use different SSIDs it is good practice to name them with the frequency in the name, i.e. MyWiFI2.4 and MyWiFi5.0 so you can easily identify which one you are connecting to.
  6. Click the Save button at the bottom of the Configuration section and the settings will be saved. Be aware that if you are connected to the Router on WiFi whilst doing this your device will lose its connection because you have changed the SSID. You will need to reconnect your device to the new SSID and use the new password.
